Below is a writing that was included in Gilbert’s obituary.

Gilbert was preceded in death by: His wife, Bertha Inez (Caswell) Jones and his parents, Monroe and Ivory (Pace) Jones.

GILBERT

As a boy wild horses he did see,

A mustanger he knew he was meant to be,

One by one his herd began to grow,

Their hearts and minds he soon would know,

Their strength and stamina is still unmatched,

Their records for endurance are still unscratched,

He fought drought and storms with laughter and tears,

A full lifetime of 93 years,

On rocks and weeds he planted his seed,

To save the blood of this rare breed.

Gilbert’s Friend,

Rodney Gideon
