The SSMA Registry
The Southwest Spanish Mustang Association (SSMA) was created by Gilbert H. Jones as a breed registry to support the conservation, breeding, and individual ownership of Spanish Mustang horses into the future. From the outset, the registry has been dedicated to tracking both conservation stock and breeding stock owned by private individuals.
Today, the SSMA registry continues under the care of our officers and directors in Hugo, Oklahoma. The officers welcome your questions and comments and can be contacted at any time at ssma1977@aol.com.
Registration is vital to the future of the Spanish Mustang horse. With each new foal and each change of ownership, the importance of accurate records grows. By registering your horse and keeping us updated on births, deaths, and transfers, you make a meaningful contribution to the security and survival of this historic breed.
The goal of the SSMA registry remains unchanged since its inception. We are here to protect and preserve the purest bloodlines of the Spanish Mustang horse for generations to come.
We thank you for your commitment and look forward to working with you in support of America’s first horse.
