Sacred Ground Bexar Feat
This letter is from Dana L. Caldwell . She purchased Sacred Ground Bexar
Feat
from Jerry & Peggy  at Sacred Ground Spanish Mustangs
Thought I'd send a picture along of Bexar Feat.  He's still
impressing everyone he meets.
We ended up having to delay his start in competitive trail riding…..
hurricane etc.  So, he'll be doing his first ride this February with a
friend of mine who is a trainer riding…..then I'll start riding him
in competition in March.
He just so smart!  He's learned to side pass, open and close gates
and backs up better than my Tahoe.
A friend of mine rode him recently on a trail ride and just couldn't
say enough about his quiet and patient demeanor.
He's learning now to show in hand and perfecting his lunge.  He's
great on the trails….. crosses any type of terrain, including water
(swims like a fish), bridges and swampy ground…..he crosses logs
almost high enough to high center him……he's still a little
concerned about horses coming up fast from behind….but he's
learning to relax.
He's great on the trailer and does really well when we camp out over
night with him.  He stand quietly at the trailer and lays down to
sleep when the camp gets quiet…..never a problem…..and well…..
eats like a horse…...

He has been a pill however about opening gates and untying
things…too smart…we've had to put new latches on all our gates to
keep him out of the hay barn and in the pasture.  He's also been on
both our front porch and back screened in porch like he's one of the
family.

He's currently wearing non-skid shoes on his front-end to help him
from slipping on asphalt when he goes into his sweet little shuffle
and stands like a statue for the farrier.  He loves to be groomed
especially with a lava block…..

He's been trained now with a full cheek snaffle and graduated to a
short shank broken bit…..and does a nice neck rein and English
rein, but still gets a little frustrated when he isn't sure what you're
asking him to do…….gets high headed and grabs for the shank on
the bit……so we're moving him to a bitless bridle to help him relax a
little more…..he's doing really well on his leg cues.  His lope is very
easy to sit….we're in the process of getting him conditioned for
longer faster rides now and from the picture you can see he's
beginning to muscle up and he's taking to the longer distances very
well.  If he stands on his tippy toes he's 14.0 hands even……and has
really nice strong feet…..
